Panoramas of Margate Beaches

Margate Beaches

Margate and the "Isle of Thanet" have an array of great (mostly) sandy beaches....

Let us help you take a virtual visit to the best beaches in and around Margate. Just select any to take a "look around".

Margate's Main Sands are a short walk from the train station and stretch from the Turner Contemporary around the bay around to Dreamland and beyond. Obviously busier on sunny weekend days but nice all year round.

A 20 minute drive west from Margate centre is Birchington and the excellent (Blue Flag 2016) Minnis Bay with generally good parking. Dogs allowed in winter (Oct-Apr).

Palm Bay lies to the east of the Old Town, in Cliftonville beyond Walpole Bay. Parking along Palm Bay Avenue and a (steep) walk down.

Walpole Bay is walking distance from Margate town, just go past the "Turner Contemporary" and follow the coastal path below the old Lido.

Westbrook Bay; In essence this beach is a continuation around from Margate Main Sands and lies just beyond the (now converted into luxury apartments) Royal Sea Bathing Hospital.
